As the torchbearer of this pristine art form, Dr. Madugula Nagaphani Sarma felt a need to preserve and assimilate
this rare gift by passing it on to the earnest and younger generations. Unlike other skills, there are no formal
training institutions like schools and colleges to learn Avadhanam. This was what drove him to establish
“Avadhana Saraswathi Peetham” in 1995
Primarily established with a view to preserve and spread the knowledge of Indian culture, Vedic traditions,
memory power, the Peetham is also a spiritual destination for pilgrims from all over the world.
Based in Hitech City, Hyderabad, the Peetham hosts a temple of Goddess Saraswathi and is among the few exclusive
temples dedicated to the Goddess in Telangana. Every year, large number of devotees visit the Peetham during the
auspicious occasion of Moolanakshatram and Sri Panchami to seek the blessings of the Goddess. Devotees have a very
strong belief in the presiding deity and seek her divine blessings for betterment and progress in their lives. The Peetham
also organizes Aksharabhyasams and Beejakshara Lekhanam performed by Guruji himself who is fondly referred to as
“Saraswathi Putra”. The Peetham also hosts a “Goshala” which provides shelter and protection to over 70 cows.
The Peetham is a cultural centre for Sanatana Dharmic values and traditions. People from all walks of life visit the
Peetham throughout the year to experience this unique preservation of spiritual life fostered by Guruji
